Clarence Burl Stingley, 29 died at his home, 840 Morley Street Sunday night at 12:45 o’clock of a complication of diseases after an illness of three weeks. He was taken sick at work in the oil house at the Monon shops. Mr. Stingley was born Dec 2, 1900 in Montgomery County the son of Marcellus Stingley, Lafayette and Mrs. Margaret Young now of Ft. Wayne. He joined the Baptist Church when 14 years old; and also was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Employees. He had been employed at the oil house at the shops for the last 10 years. Besides the widow, Mrs. Helen Stingley he leaves on child, Frances Jane Stingley, also three brothers, Henry Stingley of Grand Rapids, Michigan; William Stingley and Wiley Stingley of Lafayette and two sisters, Mrs. Celie Rosner, Indianapolis and Mrs. Geneiva Young of Grand Rapids, Mich. A grandmother, Mrs. Frances Osborn, Lafayette also survives. The body was taken to Soller and Sons Funeral Home and was to be removed to the family home where friends may call after 4:30 o’clock Monday afternoon. The funeral will be held at the Morley Street home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Rev. Elbert J. Smith, West Lafayette Baptist pastor, officiating. Burial at Springvale. ---transcribed by kbz
