Wallace A. Stilwell, manager of the first telephone company in the city of Crawfordsville, died yesterday at his home in Los Angeles, Calif, according to a message received last night by relatives in this city in which he lived up until 14 years ago.

In addition to holding the first managership of the local telephone company, he also installed plants in several other cities in Indiana and Illinois and won such a reputation as a successful telephone man that, 14 years ago, when he went west, he immediately became affiliated with the Pacific Telephone.
He has emjoyed gratifying success in the telephone business on the Pacific Coast. He was ably adapted to the work there and he has been quite successful.
He was born in Alamo and early in life came to Crawfordsville. Surviving him are his wife, Mellie White Stilwell, daughter of the late MD White and by his mother, Mrs. Mary J. Stilwell and one sister, Miss Josephine Stilwell, of this city. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
