Thorntown – Mrs. Mary Frances Stewart, 81, of Rt. 1, Thorntown, was pronounced dead on arrival at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Porter Hospital at Valparaiso after a heart attack suffered while visiting her son Roscoe of Portage. She had been in ill health since last September. A Montgomery County native she was born near Mace on March 6, 1888, daughter of John and Margaret Morris Farley. She married James A. Stewart in Crawfordsville on Dec 31, 1904. He died March 12, 1966. Mrs. Stewart was a member of the Shannondale Presbyterian Church. She lived in that community prior to moving to the Thorntown area and had lived near here the last 50 years. She was employed several years at the textile factory here. Surviving are the son, a daughter, Mrs. James Johnson of Rt. 1, Thorntown; 3 grandchildren and a great grandchild; a brother, Lawrence Farley of Crawfordsville; and sister, Mrs. Guy Demorett of Orlando, FL. Two children died in infancy. Also deceased are a brother and two sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm. Saturday at Russell & Hitch Funeral Home in Thorntown. Rev JD Blake will officiate with burial in Shannondale. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Thursday. - kbz
