Mrs. Effie K. Stewart, 84, of 108 Illinois St., died Saturday night (July 22, 1961) at the Westbrook Nursing Home in Crawfordsville, Ind., where she had been a patient since June 20. Born Oct. 17, 1876, near Marshall she was the daughter of Joseph S. and Fannie Ryman Lutz. Mrs. Stewart married Samuel A. Stewart in 1902 at Marshall. She was a member of the Second Church of Christ and the GIA, an auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert Stephens of New Richmond, Ind., and Mrs. Everett Cox of Danville; a son, J. E. of Crete; two brothers, Edwin R. of West Frankfort and Bert C. of Terre Haute; a sister, Mrs. Josephine Bittle of E. St. Louis; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Her husband, who died May 26, 1948, and four brothers and four sisters preceded in death. The body is at the Edmund & Dickson Funeral Home where friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Sunday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday. Other arrangements are incomplete.
