Tuesday - Guy Stevens son of Mrs. Mose Stevens of Illinois Street is dead at Camp McClellan Ala from pneumonia according to word received here Monday by Mrs. Stevens. The body will arrive here Wednesday for burial. Private Stevens was 23 years old and had lived here all his life. His father was killed by a Vandalia train about 8 years ago. He was a barber and well known here. He left for camp last September enlisting in the infantry of the US Army. Several messages had previously been received by his mother stating that he was seriously ill with the disease. First it was influenza and then pneumonia. Then the sad news of his death was received.  -- kbz
