Wm E. Stephens died on Saturday night, April 24, 1897, with stomach trouble and heart failure. He had been indisposed for some time and had been confined to his room most of the time for three months, but made a gallant fight for life. He was buried on Monday at the Dry Run Cemetery in Fountain County, near his old home, services being conducted by Elder Powell. He was born in eastern Indiana Feb. 28, 1829, and came to Fountain County when eight years old, living on a farm until September, 1895, when his health failing he moved to this town, where he spent the remainder of his days. He was married on Christmas Day, 1851, to Martha Clifton, who with four sons and four daughters survive him. -s
