Mellott -- Harry L. Stephens, 72, a resident in and near Mellott all his life, died at 2:30 a.m. Sunday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville, where he had been a patient since July 4. He had been in failing health since suffering a stroke in January, 1968. Mr. Stephens was employed at Harrison Steel Corp. at Attica and for many years at Alcoa Aluminum Co. at Lafayette. He attended school at Mellott and was active for years in the Redman Lodge. A native of near Mellott, he was born June 19, 1898 to James A. and Mary Ann Thompson Stephens. He was wed April 30, 1924 to Ada Sowers of Wallace, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Wayne of Mellott; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Delores) Frazier of Kokomo, and two grandchildren, Greg and Kim of Kokomo. Two sisters and three brothers are deceased. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown, with Rev. John R. Servies officiating and burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today.
