WAYNETOWN, Ind. (CNS) -- Earl Stephens, 85, of Crawfordsville Route 4, a life resident of the Waynetown community, died at 5:20 p.m. Thursday (March 15, 1973) at Culver Hospital. He had been a patient since Tuesday. Born April 2, 1887, in Montgomery County, he was the son of Allen and Margaret Stephens. He was married Oct. 18, 1911, to Cordelia M. Grissom, who died May 4, 1950. Mr. Stephens had farmed in the Waynetown and Wingate areas. He was educated in rural schools and was a member of the Wingate-Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Mabel) Hedrick of Crawfordsville Route 6 and Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Meadows of Crawfordsville Route 4; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son; two brothers, Ed and Roy; and a sister, Lida Hudson. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home. The Rev. Joe Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday.

Wingate -- Earl Stephens, 85, a farmer in the Wingate-Wayne area, died Thursday (March 15, 1973) evening in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville where he had been a patient since Tuesday. He was a member of the Wingate Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ. He lived in this county all his life and was educated in rural schools in Waynetown. The son of Allen and Margaret Stephens, he was born April 2, 1887. He was married to Cordelia M. Grissom, April 2, 1887. She preceded him in death May 4, 1950. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Mabel) Hedrick of Crawfordsville Route 6 and Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Meadows, Route 4; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
