Carl P. Stephens, 59, former resident of Wingate, and native of Mellott, died in Indianapolis Saturday following a serious illness of two weeks. He had been in failing health the past two years.
Mr. Stephens, lived in Wingate until about 1920, when he moved to Danville and was employed by the C & EI Railroad for several years. He was a member of the Christian Church in Wingate and post commander of the Knights of Pythias Chancellory in Danville. mr. Stephens leaves numerous relative sin Montgomery and Fountain counties, as well as many friends.
Graveside services and burial was Tuesday at the Methodist cemetery in Wingate. = kbz

Carl T. Stephens, 59 years old, 3216 Ruckle Street, a former employee of the C&EI Railroad died Saturday in his home after an illness of two weeks. Mr. Stephen was born June 25, 1884 in Mellott, Fountain County and lived in Danville for many years before coming to Indianapolis last July. He was a past commander of the Damacus Lodge, Knights of Pythias in Danville and member of the Christian Church of Wingate. Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Parl Snyder Stephens; two stepsons John C, Snyder and Lawrence E. Snyder, both of Indianapolis; three brother, Clyde Stephens, Jesse Stephens and Harry Stephens all of Mellott and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Wingate. Burial was in a cemetery at Wingate. – kbz
