Mary V. Starnes, 83, Rt 2, Crawfordsville died at 9:38 a.m. Friday in Culver Hospital. She and her husband had owned and operated Starnes' Greenhouses and Produce Markets on Indiana 136 E. She had also been employed by the former Cooper Insurance Agency at Crawfordsville. She was a member of the former Ingersoll Chapel Church and Crawfordsville Genealogy Society. She was a 1919 graduate of Waynetown HS. Born south of Hillsboro on Nov 29, 1900 she was a daughter of Everett and Ellen Myer Long. She was married in 1923 to Harry T. Starnes. He preceded her in death in Sept 1982. (62? smudged). She is survived by four sons: Wendell, Rt 1, Crawfordsville; Malcolm "Mike" of Lafayette; Tenny of Inverness, Fla and Charles Rt 4, Crawfordsville; three daughters Mrs. Myron (Betsy) Fiedler of Cuba City, Wis; Mrs. Ernest (Joan) French of Colfax and Mrs. James (Lindy) Wooldridge of Greenville, Miss. a sister, Mrs. Floyd (June) Campbell of Lafayette; 16 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son and two brothers, Paul and Therman Long. Services will be 3:30 p.m. Monday in Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown with Rev. Dorman Winger officiating. Interment will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 3-8 p.m. SUnday.
