Odis A. Stafford, 80, farmer and timber buyer here for many years, died at his home, 204 W Pike St at 9:30 p.m. Friday after a prolonged illness.. He was injured in an automobile accident several years ago and had never recovered. While he was engaged in the timber business, he was associated for a number of years with Harry Scholler, former Wabash College coach and athletic director. A lifelong resident of the county, he was born March 10, 1880, the son of William A. and Virginia Loop Stafford. He was married March 27, 1901 to Lulu Dice. He was a lifelong member of the Mace Methodist Church and was an active member of the Elks Lodge here for a number of years. The survivors include the widow; a son, Maj. Robert E. Stafford of Sacramento, Calif; and three daughters Mrs. Richard H. Khuen of Downey Caif; Mrs. Walter Hauck of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Philip Sleight of Alliance, Ohio. He was preceded in death by two sons, William Frost Stafford and Roland Dice Stafford. His only brother, Charles O. Stafford, died Monday Jan 16, 1961. Funeral services will be held at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Dean Stuckey of the Mace Methodist Church in charge. Burial will be in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery.
