Mrs. Frank Burrin received the following item which was an editorial in the Times Registrant, Salem, Virginia in honor of her sister, who just recently passed away. Our community has lost its beloved violinist, Wanetah K. Spruhan and in that loss we share and sympathize. She served her church and the community well, in the multitude of lives which comprise it. Portions of her heart and spirit will go on living for such an unselfish character does not live alone, nor does she die alone but rather a part of her self inevitably moves out into the lives of people there forever stays. Dr. Smith said of her, “She brought with her to Salem a warm personality, a spark of music and a spirit of dedication to her family and unselfish helpfulness to those whose lives she touched.” People from all spheres and walks of life have been swift to pay her tribute and they seem to take heart in this grief, for they are thankful for having touched shoulders with this good friend. Mrs. Spruhan was born in Waveland and went to Salem, VA in 1924. She was swell known for her musical talent. Funeral services were held at Salem and burial at Sherwood. -- kbz
