W.H. Springgate died on Friday evening, July 6, at the State Asylum for the Insane at Indianapolis, he having been consigned to that institution a few weeks since on the appearance of symptoms of mental aberration.  This malady combined with Bright's disease rapidly carried him away.  The deceased was 75 years of age.  He was born at Harrodsburg, Kentucky, December 18, 1813.  HE came to Crawfordsville in April, 1836, and was married to Sarah H. Brooks.  For the past forty years he has been well known in this county for a number of years being engaged in the mercantile business, but met with reverses by which all his competence was lost.  He leaves a wife and two children, Mrs. D.B. Hauser, of this city, and H.W. Springgate, of Omaha, Nebraska.  The funeral took place from the 5 o'clock O.I. & W. train Saturday evening.  Interment at the Masonic cemetery.  The services were conducted by Rev. G.W. Switzer.
