Mrs. S. H. Springgate, widow of the late Wm H. Springgate, died this morning after an illness of a few days, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. D. B. Hauser, on South Washington Street. The funeral will occur tomorrow afternoon at 3 o’clock from the Methodist Church. Sarah Hathaway Brooks was the daughter of Rev. Benjamin Brooks, a Methodist minister. She was born in southwestern Ohio May 6, 1818. A few years later her parents came to Indiana and settled in this county. In 1838 she was married to William H. Springgate, and has lived in this city ever since. She was the mother of eight children, but two of whom are living, Mrs. D. B. Hauser of this city and H. W. Springgate of Nebraska City, Nebraska. Mrs. Springgate united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in her childhood and has been a faithful member of it all her life. Those whom she has left behind are comforted by the assurance that she has come into that better heritage which remains for the people of God. -s
