JAMESTOWN - John E. Spohr, Wabash College graduate and lifelong resident of the Jamestown area, died early Monday morning at Witham Hospital in Lebanon. Mr. Spohr, 57, suffered a heart attack in August of 1968, but returned to his position with the Social Security Administration at Indianapolis soon after. He was admitted to the hospital Sunday. Spohr, who had served as a Jackson Township trustee, obtained his A. B. degree from Wabash in 1933. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. In addition to his work at the capital, he also farmed. The deceased was a member of the Jamestown United Methodist Church, and was affiliated with Jamestown Lodge No. 200 F & AM, and the Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite. Mr. Spohr resided on Rt. 1. Born on April 17, 1911, he was the son of Beecher and Mary Beckelhiemer Spohr. His marriage to Mary Catherine Dickson was solemnized in 1934 at South Bend. Surviving are the widow; a son, David of Rt. 2; a daughter, Mary Jane Lowder of Bloomfield and two granddaughters. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Walker Funeral Home, and burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. - jlr
