Kittie Spilman, the oldest daughter of Judge and Mrs. RB Spilman, (sic), after three of four months’ illness at 2:30 this afternoon was freed from further suffering, and her pure spirit took its flight to the region where pain and death never come. Kittie was 17 years of age, a lovely, pure girl, the pride of her parents and a favorite with all.  Until she was taken with this fatal fever, she was the picture of health, and a long life of usefulness seemed certain to be hers. But how often it happens that the young and the promising are called away.  Most deepy do the people of this entire community sympathize with the devoted parents in their great affliction – Manhattan Kan Republic. - kbz
