Henry Sperry, the well known and universally esteemed miller died on last Sunday afternoon about 2 o'clock of lung fever. Mr. Sperry had only been ill a few days, and although his friends knew he was on the decline they were greatly surprised to learn of his sudden death. Mr. Sperry came to Crawfordsville from NY state in 1845 and engaged in the milling business in the Sugar Creek Valley which now bears his name. He was at one time quite wealthy but business reverses came on in his old days. He leaves four children. Mr. Sperry was born December 19, 1806. His funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon from the old home place. The exercise was conducted by Rev. Harris, pastor of the ME Church. The attendance was very large. - kbz
