Spencer - Warren Russell

Russellville -- Warren Russell Spencer, 65, who taught at the University of Arkansas from 1919 through 1952 when he retired, died early Wednesday morning at Fayetteville, Ark. He had been in failing health for several years. Previous to going to Arkansas, he taught in the Russellville grade schools and was superintendent of schools at New Maysville and Mooreland. He taught three years at Rose Poly after receiving his BS and BSC from that school. Earlier he was graduated from Russellville HS. He attended old Central Normal College. He received AB from Indiana University and his MS at Iowa State. Born near Russellville on August 15, 1899, he was the son of Charles and Mary Jane Spencer. On June 22, 1915, he married Hallie LaFollette who survives. Surviving besides the widow are a son, Charles of Alexandria, VA; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Trimble of Little Rock, Ark; three brothers, Mort of Indianapolis; Fred of Russellville and Siegel of Thorntown; and three grandsons. The funeral will be at Russellville. Arrangements are incomplete. The McGaughey Funeral Home will be in charge.
