Thelma Geneva, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Spencer died in Crawfordsville on Saturday night after a few hours illness with membranous croup. The body was brought here on Monday morning and laid to rest in Maple Ridge cemetery, after funeral services at the home of Frank Willoughby conducted by Rev. Charles W. Ross of the Crawfordsville Church. On Oct 28, 1911 the life of Thelma Geneva bloomed into the home and heart of Charles and Hallie Spencer. She was a sweet and affectionate child bringing rays of sunshine into the home. But the sunbeam was soon shadowed by the cloud of death and on May 29, 1920 the loving father called her to rest after a few hours of terrible suffering at the age of 8 years 7 months 1 day. Dearest Thelma, thou has left us, Here thy loss we deeply feel, But 'tis God that hath bereft us, He can all our sorrows heal Yet again we hope to meet thee, when the day of life has fled, Then in Heaven with joy to greet thee, where no farewell tear is shed. Mr. and Mrs. Spencer lived on a farm northwest of town before moving to Crawfordsville. Mrs. Spencer is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. TW Wilson and is herself in poor health. Much sympathy is felt in this community over the loss of the only child. -- kbz
