Mrs. Mary Drew SPENCER, age 57, died here Saturday night at 10:30 o'clock at her home of complications following a streptococcic attack last January. Mrs. Spencer was born July 6, 1884, on the McCormick homestead near here, the daughter of Shelby W. and Margaret McCormick. She was married to Wilbur H. SPENCER September 19, 1907 at the home of her family. Mrs. Spencer was a member of the Waveland Presbyterian Church where she was active in teaching. She graduated from WHS and attended Indiana University. Later, Mrs. Spencer taught school here. She lived in the community almost all her life. Surviving besides the husband are a daughter, Margaret of Indianapolis; a son, George of Russellville; a sister, Mrs. Earl Spencer of Crawfordsville and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 1:30 o'clock at the home with Rev. Egon Hessel in charge. Burial was in Maple Ridge Cemetery. The pall bearers were OG Swaney; Alonzo Deere; Glen McKinney; Wiliam Peck; Forrest Coleman and Joe Todd. Rev. Hessel conducted the service. Music was by Mrs. Hessel and the girls choir of the Waveland Presbyterian Church. -- kbz
