Mrs. Frances Inge SPENCER 78, widow of Charles W. Spencer of this place died early Saturday morning at Culver Hospital where she had been a patient for the past 4 weeks. Mrs. Spencer was the mother of 5 children. Born in Russellville, Mrs. Spencer was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William INGE pioneer residents of that community. She attended the Russellville school. Her husband who conducted a hardware store in Waveland for many years died about 20 years ago. Mrs. Spencer was an active member of the Waveland Methodist Church and belonged to the Waveland Department club. She was active in church and club work and was interested in community welfare programs in her home town. Those surviving are: Miss Bertha Spencer at home in Waveland where she and her mother lived together; Lowell Spencer, hardware dealer of Waveland, carrying on the business formerly conducted by his father; Parke Spencer of Kansas City; Mrs. Fern Gillespie of Lebanon and Mrs. Vera Frances Lingeman of Crawfordsville. 7 grandchildren also survive together with her sister, Mrs. Pearl Pitts, wife of Edgar Pitts of Russellville. Those preceding Mrs. Spencer in death were George; Clay and Morton Inge. The funeral was conducted Monday afternoon from the Methodist Church with her pastor, the Rev. Claude McCallister in charge; burial in Maple Ridge. - kbz
