ATTICA — Roy B. Spear, 82, a resident of Woodland Manor Nursing Home, died at 10:40 a.m. Thursday in Home Hospital at Lafayette, where he has been a patient three days. He had been ill for 15 years. Mr. Spear had been sexton of Riverside Cemetery here for 35 years. He was a former employe of Harrison Steel Casting Co. He was born Feb. 11, 1891, in Marrow Bone, Ky., a son of Thomas and Marietta Hamilton Spear. On July 28, 1913, he was married at Bowling Green, Ky., to Anna Amelia Haspen, who died Dec. 17, 1954. For 15 years prior to entering the nursing home Mr. Spear resided with two daughters, Mrs. Robert DeAth of near Veedersburg and Mrs. Kenneth Kiger of Lawrenceburg. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Mae Cooksey of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Bessie Garrott of Lafayette, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Maus Chapel here, with the Rev. Douglas Dickey officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
