Raymond C. Spear, 58, a 34-year employe of the Indiana Bell Telephone Co., died at 9 a.m. Thursday at Culver Hospital. He had been hospitalized one day with a heart ailment. Mr. Spear, who resided at 1112 Homewood Ave., was a facility assigner for the telephone company. Son of Walter A. and Cornelia Murray Spear, he was born Dec. 29, 1911, in Warren County, Ky. He was married to Meryl Dodge Sept. 2, 1933, at Newtown, Ind. Mr. Spear was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge and Order of Eastern Star, all at Newtown, and the Crawfordsville Elks Lodge and the Bell Pioneer organization. Surviving are the widow; a son, Richard Spear of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Lou Williams of Orange Park, Fla.; three brothers, Cliff Spear of Crawfordsville, Clarence Spear of Attica and Curt Spear of Williamsport, and five grandchildren. One brother preceded him in death. Services for Mr. Spear will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hunt and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Larimore K. Wickett officiating. Burial will be in the Newtown Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Friday. --typed by Walt W

Spear, age 58, of Crawfordsville, brother of Clarence Spear of Attica and Curt Spear of Williamsport, who died at 9 a.m. Thursday, April 9, at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home in Crawfordsville. The Rev. Larimore Wickett officiated and burial was in the Newtown Cemetery. Mr. Spear, a 34-year-employee of Indiana Bell Telephone Co., had been hospitalized only one day with a heart condition. He was born Dec. 29, 1911, in Warren County, Ky., the son of Walter A. and Cornelia Murray Spear. He was married Sept. 2, 1933, at Newtown, to Meryl Dodge, who survives. Mr. Spear had been a facility assigner for Indiana Bell. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge, Order of Eastern Star, Elks Lodge and Bell Pioneer Organization. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: one son, Richard of Crawfordsville; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Lou Williams of Orange Park, Fla.; three brothers, Cliff of Crawfordsville, Clarence of Attica and Curt of Williamsport; and five grandchildren.
