Ladoga -- Mrs. Mabel (Dolly) Sparks, 82, died at 5:50 p.m. Thursday in the Ben Hur Home at Crawfordsville, where she had been the last nine months. She had been in failing health several years. For 40 years she lived two miles east of Ladoga. A native of New Ross, she was born April 13, 1881 to James William and Sarah Jane Powell. She married Charles Richards Sparks in Lebanon Dec. 31, 1901. He died in August 1952. Mrs. Sparks was a member of the New Ross Christian Church. She was reared in Lebanon and came to the New Ross-Ladoga area after her marriage. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Juanita French of New Ross and Mrs. Dolly Cathryn Trosper of Lebanon; four sons, Charles Richard Jr. and William Bruce Sparks of Ladoga and Darrel David and Adrian B. Sparks of Crawfordsville; a brother, Jesse Powell of Del Ray Beach, Fla., and 23 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Funeral services are announced for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Christian Church in New Ross, where the body will lie in state from 1 p.m. Rev. Albert Amos will officiate, and burial will be in the New Ross Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and after 2 p.m. Saturday at the Gephart Funeral Home in Ladoga.
