Sorrels - Mary Stafford

Mrs. Mary Pearl Sorrels, 81, died Saturday night in the home of a daughter, Mrs. William G. Lewis at 707 S. Grant Avenue. Born in Ladoga April 15, 1885, she was a daughter of John M. and Mary Virginia Kramer Stafford. She married Virgil Sorrels November 12, 1922. He died in 1944. They began living in this city, then moved to Chicago and in 1940 returned to Crawfordsville. Mrs. Sorrels was a member of Trinity Methodist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Lewis, Mrs. Kenneth Hughes and Mrs. Everett Garvin of Crawfordsville; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Thelma Frogg and a stepson, Willard Sorrels, both of California; 11 grandchildren four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Sorrels was the last of 9 children. Funeral services are set for 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bright Funeral Home. -- kbz
