VEEDERSBURG — Guy S. Songer, 80, retired farmer and Veedersburg Brick Co. employe, died at 10 p.m. Friday in the Rudisill Nursing Home at Covington, where he had been a patient several weeks. He had been ill the past year. A son of James R. and Alice VanDeventer Songer, he was born in Fountain County on June 18, 1877. He was married Aug. 24, 1909 at Salem to Della E. Mullen, who died last October. Also preceding him in death were two children in infancy and a brother, Glenn. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Kate Mullen of Veedersburg, and brother, Roy of Covington. Songer was an Army veteran of World War I and a member of Charles Forrest Post of the American Legion here. Funeral rites are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Parham Funeral Home, with Rev. Ivan Steed the minister and burial in Bonebrake Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. Veedersburg News -- Guy S.
