WAYNETOWN, Ind. (CNS) – W. L. Soards, 87, a resident of Linden for the past year and a half, died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 25, 1975) at Culver Hospital in Drawfordsville. He had farmed in the Waynetown area until 1965 when he retired and moved to New Richmond. He had been residing with a daughter in Linden and was a member of the Linden Baptist Church. Born Feb. 26, 1888, in Monroe County, Ky., he was the son of Henry and Mary Ward Soards. He was married Sept. 22, 1907, to Lena Wax of Monroe County, Ky. She died in May 1953. Survivors include a son, Clyde of Waynetown; two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Crabreee of Linden and Mrs. Roxie Hurt of New Richmond; three half brothers, Arley and Arthur Soards, both of Tuscola, Ill., and Hascal Soards in Kentucky; a half sister, Mrs. Joe Mathews of Tuscola; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown. The Rev. Carlile Scott will officiate. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. Saturday. – jlr
