Ira D. Snyder, aged 54, for many years a resident of Crawfordsville died at his home on west Market Street at 12:20 Sunday morning. Death was caused by spinal trouble and came after every effort had been made to save his life. Mr. Snyder was a faithful member of the Roberts Chapel Methodist Church and his death is mourned by many friends. Ira D. Snyder, son of Jere and Mary Snyder, was born in Montgomery County, Nov 17, 1857 54 years ago. He was married to Miss Lyda Breaks in 1882 and lived on a farm north of town. For the last 10 years his residence has been in Crawfordsville where he has been engaged in the stock buying business. He has been a prominent worker in the Democratic party and several years ago was the party's candidate for sheriff. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mary Snyder, the wife, two children, Miss Leta Snyder and Edmond Snyder, one brother, Alfonso, who resides at Alton, Ill and 3 sisters, Mrs. John Gilbert and Mrs. Edward Holmes, both of this city and Mrs. Edna Parker of New York City. He was a member of the Order of Modern Woodmen The funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 at the late residence and will be in charge of Rev. FW Hixson, of this city and Rev. EW Dunlavy of Lafayette. Music will be furnished by the Ben Hur quarter who will sing, Lead, Kindly Light and Some Time We'll Understand. Interment will be made in Oak Hill cemetery. -- kbz
