Snyder - Elizabeth Price

Elizabeth SNYDER was born in Frederick County, MD on Jan 1, 1822 and was the youngest child out of a family of 7 which was composed of two boys, Hiram and William Price. The girls were: Minerva, Sarah, Mary Emma and Elizabeth, the deceased. Her father's name was William Price and mother's name was Emma Summer before marrying Mr. Price. They were married Dec 22, 1807. Her mother died April 15, 1827 when Elizabeth was 5. Her father died August 20, 1858 at age 78. At the age of two, her parents emigrated to Ohio and to Indiana at age 9. She was married March 17, 1850 to Andrew J. Snyder of Yountsville, Indiana who died Nov 14, 1883. To this union there were born six children: Benton, Caretta, Douglass who died in infancy, Carleton, Clinton and Sallie, the youngest, who married William S. Stage of Vallonia, Indiana but who departed this life Jan 1, 1900 thus of her offspring living there are 3 boys and one girl, Mrs. JW Davis all of whom are residents at or near here. Mrs. Snyder has resided at Yountsville since her marriage until about 1896. Since which time she has resided principally with her daughter, Mrs. JW Davis of W. Pike Street of this city. Her illness was of short duration having been stricken with pneumonia just one week prior to her death which dates 10;30 o'clock a.m. Sunday, Feb 12, 1905. As a mother she was much adored by her family. She was an exemplary mother, a kind friend and good and respected neighbor. While her illness was of short duration yet it was borne with great patience though at all times her suffering was great. She united with the ME Church at Yountsville when 25 and since held that faith. She died at age 83 years 1 month and 11 days, leaving besides her own children, 13 grandchildren and six greats. -- typed by kbz
