Mrs. Daisy Snyder, a brief notice of whose death appeared Monday, was the daughter of William and Ellen Britton, born June 10, 1872. She was married to Clayton Snyder, July 1, 1891, and after a short but sweet and useful life was taken to heaven June 6, 1897. She had always lived in this city, until two years ago, when she went with her husband to reside in Shelbyville, returning sometime since to die in her old home, among loving friends and relatives. For the last three years she was a consistent member of the First Baptist church, was baptized by Rev. Fuson, who also performed the marriage ceremony. Here funeral services were conducted June 7, by Rev. R.D. Trick in the presence of a large concourse of sympathizing friends. Her form was born to its last rest by six of her young lady associates. She leaves to mourn her loss, a father, mother, fives sisters and two brothers, besides the deeply afflicted husband and two bright little children, who have the warm sympathy of all who know them.
Her daily sweetness of character and disposition can perhaps be best expressed in the following simple lines:
An angel with her wings concealed
Sat down beside our social hearth,
But every day some trait revealed
That she was more of heaven then earth
So bright upon our path she shone,
So nestled in our hearts deep core.
Ti's hard to think her spirit flown
That we shall see her face no more.
Yet all in vain our tender care
To bins her soul with earthly ties:
We could not hold that spirit fair
It sought the freedom of the skies
All through the long, sad hours of night
We watched with hearts ail torn and riven
Till with the flush of morning light
She passed through pearly gates to heaven. – thanks to Kim H
