Benjamin Snyder was born in Butler County, Ohio, Oct. 11, 1810, died Jan. 1892, was married to Miss Phoebe Voris Dec. 13, 1855. When 21 years old he bought a quarter section of land from the government when the land office was at Crawfordsville, where he has lived continually, except five years, when he lived at Rockville with his daughter, Mrs. John B. Swank. Mr. Snyder was by trade a mason, which he followed for 55 years. He was the youngest of nine brothers, all of whom have preceded him. The funeral will occur tomorrow at 2 o’clock at Mr. John B. Swank’s on West Market Street, services by Rev. Fuson. Mr. Snyder selected the text to be read, the 2nd Cor., 5th chapter, 1st verse: “For we know that if our earthly home of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” Interment was at Oak Hill. - s

This morning Ben F. Snyder, one of the oldest and best known citizens of this county, arose quite early at the home of his son-in-law, John Swank, on West Market Street, and went out into the yard. After quite a time his wife went to look for him and found him cold and apparently lifeless on the floor of a small outbuilding. Help was summoned and Mr. Snyder was carried to the house. He was not dead, but was unconscious and unable to move, having received a stroke of paralysis. Dr. Ensminger was summoned but pronounced his case hopeless although he may live some days even. Mr. Snyder is quite a large man and 82 years of age. He is well known and owned a farm north of the city. His sudden call will be quite a surprise to his many friends as he had been in exceedingly good health lately. - s
