Hillsboro - Alva Snyder, 93 of Hillsboro, a retired farmer died Monday in Ben Hur Nursing Home at Crawfordsville. He had been in ill healthfor several years. He was a member of the Pleasant Ridge United Bretheran Church at Corydon. He attended Corydon schools. Born Oct 5, 1879, near Corydon, he was a son of Levi and Martha Smith Snyder, He married Alta Stonecipher in 1905. She died in 1945. He was wed to Pearl Walkup in 1953. She died in (July 21) 1967. Survivors include 3 sons: Ralph and Carl, Hillsboro and Howard, New Richmond; three daughters, Mrs. Paul (Thelma) Ingersoll of HIllsboro; Mrs. Kermit (Ileen) Cooper of Kokomo and Mrs. Van (Vera) Schermerhorn of Indianapolis; a brother, Otto of Webb City, Mo; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Crumley-Williams Funeral Home here. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday.
