Snouwaert - Grace Gayler

Mrs. Grace Ione Snouwaert, 51, Wingate, was pronounced dead on arrival Friday night at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville. Montgomery County Coroner Russell Powers said death was the result of a self-inflicted gun-shot wound. Mrs. Snouweart had been despondent over failing health, the coroner said. Born Aug. 4, 1919, at Covington, she was the daughter of Earl and Pearl Auter Gayler. She was married March 2, 1946, to Wayne Snouwaert. They were married at Sterling. Mr. and Mrs. Snouwaert resided on a farm west of New Richmond until 1964 when they moved to the south edge of Wingate. Mrs. Snouwaert was a graduate of Attica High School and was a member of the New Richmond Order of Eastern Star. Surviving in addition to the husband are her mother, Mrs. Pearl Gayler of Attica; a son and daughter-in-law, Edward Dean and Kathleen Snouwaert of St. Paul, Minn.; a brother, Marvin Gaylor of Covington; a sister, Mrs. Clara Brannigan of Attica; and several aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her father who died in 1949. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown. Rev. Everett White officiated. Burial in Masonic Cemetery at Waynetown. – jlr
