Perrysville, Ind - Mrs. Lucille Snoddy, 65, of Perrysville Rt 1, an elementary teacher for 46 years died 6 a.m. Monday (Sept 3, 1973) at the Pelican Valley Hospital in Pelican Rapids, MN. She had been ill 3 months. Born Oct 8, 1907 in Perrysville, she was the daughter of Corven and Ethel Runyon Allen. She was married Oct 30, 1942 to Raymond Snoddy, who survives. Mrs. Snoddy received all her formal education in Terre Haute. She graduated from Indiana State University in 1930 and returned there to collect her bachelor of science degree in 1966. Her entire teaching career was spent in Highland Twp. She began teaching in the old Perrysville grade school, moved to the Rileysburg Elementary for six years and then returned to Perrysville in 1941. She had planned to retire at the end of the present school year at the Highland Elementary but was forced to quit because of ill health prior to the opening of school. In a C-N interview during National Education Week in 1970 when she was recognized for teaching 3 generations of one family, she said, "I love kids. I love to watch them grow up and know I've had a hand in their education. Anytime we go to an athletic event or to a school program, I sit down and then start looking around - spotting the ones I've had in class." A life resident of Perrysville, she was a member of the United Methodist Church and Auxiliary of Walter Hoyt American Legion Post 350, both of Perrysville, Verm Co. Historical Society, Indiana State Teachers Association and Classroom Teachers association. Her hobby was attending all North Vermillion athletic activities. She was given an honorary pass to their events several years ago. Other survivors include two brothers, Edwin K. Allen, Newport and Donald Allen, St. George's, Grenada, British West Indies; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Adeline) Hagerman of Danville; 3 nephews and a niece. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Perrysville United Methodist Church with Rev. Henry Karg officiating. Burial in Hicks Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home, Covington after 2 p.m. Wednesday. The body will be taken to the church an hour before services kbz
