WAYNETOWN -- Leslie Roy Snelling, 43, died of a heart attack at 9:55 p.m. Saturday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville where he had been a patient since last Monday. Mr. Snelling had operated the Sinclair Service Station here since 1957 and sponsored Les' Sinclair bowling team. He was a member of the Methodist Church and Waynetown American Legion. He was born Feb. 16, 1920 at Chrisman, Ill., a son of Elmer and Myrtle Spurlin Snelling. He was married Feb. 1, 1947 to June Sarver. They were married at Covington. He served in the U.S. Air Force four years and spent 13 months overseas. Survivors include the widow; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Snelling of Waynetown; eight brothers, Paul of Hillsboro, Byron of Attica, Alvin of Minneapolis, Ray of Fort Wayne, Walter of Orlando, Fla., William of Texas, Robert of Waynetown and Keith of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Mrs. Fern Hoffmiester of Louisville, Ky. and Mrs. Martha Merrell of Howe; an uncle, Charles Snelling of West Point; and two aunts, Mrs. Mary Harshbarger of Champaign, Ill. and Mrs. Cora Reesen of Battleground. Funeral services will be announced at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Servies Funeral Home here with Rev. Robert S. Lecky officiating. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Monday.
