WAYNETOWN, Ind. (CNS) -- Elmer M. Snelling, 83, of Waynetown, died at 11:40 p.m. yesterday (July 22, 1968) at the Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville. He had been a patient there since suffering a stroke on July 8. Born July 29, 1884, at Wickliffe, Ind., he was the son of William H. and Alice Brown Snelling. He was married in December 1902 at Longview to Myrtle Spelin, who survives. Mr. Snelling had been a farmer until 1942 when he became employed at the Alcoa Aluminum Plant in Lafayette. He retired from there in 1952. He had attended the Longview, Ill., schools. Survivors include seven sons, Paul of Hillsboro, Alvin of South Bend, Ray of Scottsbluff, Neb., Walter of Orlando, Fla., William of Beaumont, Tex., Robert of Waynetown and Keith of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Mrs. Fern Hoffmeister of Louisville, Ky., and Mrs. Martha Merrill of Howe, Ind.; a brother, Charles of near Odell; a sister, Mrs. Cora Reesen of Battleground; 29 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Leslie of Waynetown and Byron of Attica. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home. The Rev. Guy E. Tremaine will officiate. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. Wednesday. -
