Newtown - Byron Snelling, a former Newtown resident died Saturday of a heart attack at his home in Attica. He had been ill for the past year. He was born at Wickliff July 26, 1907, a son of Elmer and Myrtle Snelling. On September 28, 1928, he was married to Beulah Smith. Mr. Snelling had been employed in the pattern department of Harrison Steel in Attica. He was a member of the Union Christian Church west of Newtown. A veteran of WWII, he was a member of the American Legion & VFW. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Attica. He is survived by his wife, a son, Donald Snelling of Newtown; a daughter, Mrs. James Hoagland of Newtown; two sisters, Mrs. MarkMerrill and Mrs. Fern Hoffmerster; 7 brothers, Paul, Alvin, Ray, Walter, William, Robert and Keith and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son and a brother. Funeral services will be in Crumley Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. George Pehlps in charge. Burial in Union Cemetery west of Newtown. - kbz
