New Ross, Aug. 24 -- The funeral of Alvin B. SPARKS was held at the Christian church of New Ross on Sunday afternoon of Aug. 13. Rev. GRAHAM of Brownsburg was the officiating clergyman, and read the following Biography:
Alvin B. Sparks was born Sept. 17, 1841, near Carlisle, Nicholas County, Kentucky. At an early age he moved with his father to Indiana, settling near New Ross, where he has since resided. At the age of twenty-one he was converted at the Valley School House and united with the Christian church at New Ross at its organization and was a faithful worker until his death. He was united in marriage Sept. 7, 1865, to Lucy A. BOWEN, who still survives him. To this union eight children were born, William I., who resides in Iowa; George M., Mrs. Rose BOWMAN, Mrs. Myrtle WHITEMEN and Jesse B., who reside in Boone county; Charles R. and Mrs. Ethel DICE who reside in this county, and Nettie G., who died in infancy. - kbz
Note: this is Alvin Branch Sparks born 17 September 1841 died 12 August 1910. Father: George Sparks Mother: Catherine Spouse: Lucy Ann.  On his death record he died of chronic nephritis
