Sparks - Lucy Ann Brown


New Ross -- July 23 -- Mrs. Lucy Ann SPARKS, 72 years old, died yesterday morning at 3:30 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Myrtle WHITEMAN near North Salem. She had been in poor health for some time and her death was caused by paralysis. Mrs. Sparks was taken to the home of her daughter one year ago. She was one of the best known women in this section of the county and was well liked by all who knew her. She was known for her Christian fortitude and the noble life which she lived.

Mrs. Sparks was born on a farm north of New Ross, January 11, 1848. She was the daughter of Mathew and Catherine BROWN. On September 7, 1865, she was married to Alvin B. Sparks, whose death occurred ten years ago.

She is survived by the following children: W. I. Sparks, Newton, Iowa; C. R. Sparks, Ladoga; J. B. Sparks, Advance; Mrs. Ethel DICE, Mace; Mrs. Rose BOWMAN, New Ross and Mrs. Whiteman, North Salem. She is also survived by a sister, Miss Mary BOWEN, of New Ross, and a brother, Ira Bowen, of Lebanon.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the New Ross Christian church. Rev. Homer DALE of Lebanon will officiate and interment will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
