Ralston Sowers, who was 59 Monday, died early Tuesday morning following
an illness of 3 years. Mr. Sowers suffered a cerebral hemorrhage in
1951. Death was due to pneumonia with which he became afflicated two
weeks ago. Born near Wallace on a farm April 5, 1895, Mr. Sowers was
the son of Samuel H. and Minnie Grimes Sowers. He attended school in
both Wallace and Covington and graduated from CHS in 1915. Mr. Sowers
married July 4, 1917 to Ruby Shuler of Wallace. Mr. and Mrs. Sowers
resided on a farm near Wallace until 1938 when they moved into Wallace
and Mr. Sowers became the janitor at the Wallace HS. He continued on
duty until stricken 3 years ago. Mr. Sowers is survived by his wife,
who is the Wallace correspondent for the Journal-Review, two sons, Edgar
of Wallace and Robert L. of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Mrs. Edith Gray
of Waynetown; 5 grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Lavern Clore of Wallace
and a brother, Vernice of Wallace. Funeral arrangements were incomplete
