Marion D. Smith, aged 48 years, died last evening at 6:30 o’clock at his home on West Jefferson Street, of black erysipelas brought on by cutting his finger a week ago and poisoning the wound with lead while working as a plumber. Funeral tomorrow at 11 in this city. The body will be taken to his old home in Connersville for interment. Mr. Smith leaves a wife and seven children in destitute circumstances. Mr. Smith entered in the army from June, ’61, to June, ’65, and was a private soldier in the famous Wilder Brigade, being connected with the 26th Indiana battery. He was a hard working, honest man.
