Funeral service for Mrs. Lucretia Smith, 83, a life long resident of the Veedersburg community and wife of Guy Smith, retired Fountain County surveyor, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fishero Funeral Home. She died at 1 p.m. Sunday at her home after a lengthy illness. Rev. James Dyson, pastor of the First Christian Church of Veedersburg, officiated at the funeral, and interment took place in Rockfield Cemetery. She was born August 5, 1881, the daughter of Thomas and Ann Morehouse Miller, pioneer residents of the Sterling community. She was married Dec. 24, 1904, to Guy Smith, who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Irene Harper of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Alberta Meeker and Mrs. Mona Craig, both of Veedersburg, and Mrs. Ada Howard, of Atlanta, Ga.; two sons, Stanley, of Clifton, Ariz., and Walter Smith, of Indianapolis; and 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Sterling Christian Church, now the Congregational Christian Church, in the community where she was born and had lived many years. --typed by Walt W

VEEDERSBURG — Mrs. Lucretia Smith, 83, died at her home in Veedersburg at 1 p.m. Sunday. She had been ill several years and seriously so three weeks. She was born Aug. 5, 1881, in Fountain County to Thomas and Ann Morehouse Miller. She married Guy Smith on Dec. 24, 1904. She was a member of the Sterling Christian Church. Surviving are her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Irene Harper of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Ada Howard of Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. Alberta Meeker and Mrs. Mona Craig, both of Veedersburg; two sons, Stanley of Cliffton, Ariz., and Walter of Indianapolis; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fishero Funeral Home in Veedersburg. Rev. James Dyson will officiate. Burial will be in Rockfield Cemetery.
