HILLSBORO — Lena Ray Smith, 72, of south of Hillsboro, died at 10 a.m. Monday at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville. Born near Stone Bluff on Jan. 5, 1897, she was a daughter of Ollie and Anne Lighty Ray. She married Jessie Smith at Danville, Ill. on Nov. 15, 1919. A member of Hillsboro Nazarene Church and Hillsboro American Legion Post No. 188 Auxiliary, she had lived in the Hillsboro area the past 24 years. She moved here from Potomac, Ill. Surviving besides her husband are a son, Robert Lowel of Veedersburg; a sister, Mrs. Alice Smart of Danville, Ill., and three brothers, Danny Ray, Otis Ray and Homer Ray, all of Danville, Ill. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Crumley-Williams Funeral Home with Rev. James Livingston officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may pay respects at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until 5 and 7 until 9 Wednesday. -- typed by Walt W
