John K. Smith, 67,
Rt. 5 Crawfordsville, suffered a fatal seizure while at work Friday morning at
the DeKalk plant here. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Culver Hospital.
Coroner Dr. Samuel E. Millis said his death was due to a cerebral hemorrhage. He
was born Oct. 17, 1900, in Chrisman, Ill., the son of William and Irene Smith.
He was married to Cecile Irene Cummins Smith. He was a retired foreman of the
Sunset Dairy, located in Tucson, Ariz. Survivors include the wife; a son,
Richard Smith of Rt. 5, Crawfordsville; a daughter, Judith Lee Barnes of
Fresno, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Bose Coyer of Long Beach, Calif. and Mrs.
Martha Thompson of Harvey, Ill.; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will
be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home in Crawfordsville
with Rev. Frank Little officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in
Chrisman, Ill. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. – jlr
