Alamo, July 25 – John H. Smith, a resident of Alamo practically his entire life, died at his home here this afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. He was 83 years old. He was born in Howard County on Jan 20, 1851, the son of Joseph and Mary (Rush) Smith and moved to Alamo with his parents when he was two years old. He has lived here since that time, marrying Miss Cinderella Bolser on Oct 9, 1878. He was a member of the Alamo Christian Church. Surviving are four daughters: Mrs. Maggie Fruits; Mrs. Bird Fruits and Mrs. Kate Tucker all of Alamo and Mrs. Mary Fruits, of New Richmond; one son, Carl and a brother, James both of Alamo; and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Gilkey and Mrs. Noah Myers both of Crawfordsville. Funeral services in charge of the Rev. John Servies of Crawfordsville will be conducted from the Alamo Christian Church Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock with burial in the Alamo cemetery. - kbz
