Mrs. Hester Goode
Smith, 80, of Indianapolis and a member of the First Church of Nazarene here,
died Wednesday night in Lakeview Manor Nursing Home at Indianapolis after a
long illness. Mrs. Smith was born Dec. 28, 1893, in Kentucky, a daughter of
Jerome E. and Deborah White Hall. She first married George O. Goode. He died in
1949. She later married Faye Smith, who died in 1953. Surviving are a son,
Hollie C. Goode of Speedway; two daughters, Mrs. Clara Williams of Indianapolis
and Mrs. Nell Wright of Sheridan; three sisters, Mrs. Lola Davis, Mrs. Clarice
Cain and Mrs. Roma Gerald of Crawfordsville; two brothers, Arthur Hall of
Tampa, Fla. and Ed Hall of Talmadge, Ohio; six grandchildren and 16
great-grandchildren. A son, Carlos J. Goode, and a brother, Estes Hall, are
deceased. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Burkhart Funeral
Home here with the Rev. J. M. Garrett of Indianapolis officiating. Burial will
be in Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m.
