“Lapland news item” – Frank Smith died at his home two miles southwest of here Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock. He had typhoid fever and was sick but a few weeks. The funeral occurred Thursday and interment was at Advance cemetery. - kbz

Frank Smith, aged 35 years, died of typhoid fever about midnight Tuesday night, at his home near Lapland. He had been sick only a few days. The funeral occurred Thursday, interment in the cemetery at Alamo. Mr. Smith was a most excellent citizen and was a prosperous farmer. He stood in high esteem and the bereaved wife he leaves has the sympathy of all in her great affliction.

We were pained to learn of the death of one of our old neighbor boys in the person of Frank Smith, of near Lapland. No person was held in greater esteem than he. He was strictly honest, kind, sociable and ever ready to lend a helping hand and give a good word for all. He was the owner of a very valuable farm, which he had gained by hard work and unceasing efforts. He was a model man in every sense of the word and will be greatly missed. -s
