NEWTOWN — Evalyn Elizabeth (Campbell) Smith, 93, formerly of Newtown, died at 12:05 a.m. Sunday, March 18, 2001 in Woodland Manor Nursing Center, Attica. She was born July 10, 1907 in Cain Township, Fountain County, the daughter of Frank and Sylvia Purdue Campbell. She married Jesse M. “Jack” Smith Dec. 21, 1935 in Wingate. He preceded in death March 3, 1982. She was raised and lived in Shawnee Township and in 1978 moved to Newtown. She graduated from Attica High School in 1926. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Newtown Community Church; a member and past worthy matron of the Newtown Chapter #282 O.E.S., which now is affiliated with the Fern Chapter #194 O.E.S. of Hillsboro; a member of the Newtown Study Club; Richland Home Demonstration Club and past president of the Fountain County Extension. Survivors include: a daughter, Janet (Philip) Ramsey, Wilkinson; a brother, Horace Campbell, Salsburry; a sister, Maxine Crowder, Attica; three grandchildren, Greg Ramsey, Cheryl Curry and Jeff Ramsey; and four great-grandchildren, Amanda Curry, Courtney Curry, Christopher Curry and Daniel Ramsey. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Albert Thomas Campbell and her parents. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. Phil Crubaugh officiating. Burial will be in Coal Creek Cemetery at Union Christian Church near Newtown. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) with O.E.S. memorial services being held at 7:30 p.m. – jlr
