NEW RICHMOND, Ind. (CNS) -- Mrs. Elsie M. Smith, 86, of New Richmond, died at 2 p.m. Friday (Nov. 5, 1976) at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville, where she had been a patient since Wednesday. A life resident of Montgomery County, Mrs. Smith resided the past 13 years in New Richmond. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Church of Christ at Wingate, the Wayne County Eastern Star, Waynetown Rebekah Lodge 551, Pythian Sisters of Wingate and the New Richmond American Legion auxiliary. She also had been president of the Past Noble Grand Club. Born Oct. 14, 1890 in Urbana, Ill., she was a daughter of William and Isabelle Roe Wood. She married Charles Ernest Smith in April 1907. He died in 1963. A son, George, died in 1968. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Mary Starkey. Survivors include a son, Marion of New Richmond Route 1; two daughters, Capitola Wills and Mrs. Delores Zachary, both of Crawfordsville; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown, with the Rev. Robert Boyd officiating. Burial will be in New Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the Rebekah lodge will conduct services at 7 p.m.
