ALAMO -- Mrs. Delta B. Smith, 80, native of the Alamo area and lifelong resident of Montgomery County, died at 7:02 a.m. Friday at a nursing home in Crawfordsville, where she had been a resident since August of 1967. Mrs. Smith was born near Alamo June 26, 1888, the daughter of James and Cornelia Tucker Stonebraker. She was reared in the Alamo area, educated in the Alamo School and spent her entire life in the Alamo community. She was first married to James Clore in 1906. She married Merle Smith in 1944. He preceded her in death in 1957. She was also preceded in death by a son, Randle Clore, in 1959 and a sister, Mrs. Helen Pickett, in 1965. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Alamo Christian Church. Survivors include two sons, Austin C. Clore and Clinton D. Clore, both of Crawfordsville; a brother, Lex Stonebraker of Alamo; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown. Rev. Hugh Dooley of the Alamo Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Alamo Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday.
